About The Brunch

The Tucson Jazz Festival invites you to an unforgettable Sunday celebration at The Grand with a brunch featuring the Sullivan Fortner Trio. GRAMMY-winning pianist and recipient of the 2026 Bell Jazz Artist Award,  Sullivan Fortner—hailed by The New York Times as one of today’s most remarkable improvisers—leads his acclaimed trio.  Fortner’s artistry bridges tradition and innovation, offering a one of a kind experience.

The event pairs Fortner’s music with Southern-inspired brunch dishes and specialty cocktails. Whether you are a longtime jazz devotee or a festival regular seeking an elegant outing, the TJF Jazz Brunch delivers the perfect blend of world-class performance, inspired cuisine, and an intimate atmosphere.

The Menu

Sully’s Chicken & Waffles
Golden, crispy fried chicken over a fluffy waffle, drizzled with real maple syrup — a bold, brassy classic that never misses a beat.  A special request for our guest of honor, Sullivan Fortner.
Benny Goodman Eggs
Classic Eggs Benedict with a smooth hollandaise solo.
Quiche Ellington
A veggie-filled quiche worthy of a royal jazz court.
Saxy Strips
Crispy bacon that hits all the right notes.
Rhythm & Spuds
Seasoned country potatoes that keep the beat.
Improvised Greens
Grilled veggies with smoky depth and freeform flair.
Fresh Jam Session
A medley of fresh fruits playing in perfect harmony.
Beignets & Blues
New Orleans-style beignets dusted in powdered sugar — soft, sweet, and a little nostalgic.
Specialty Cocktail: The Bloody Bessie
A bold, brassy Bloody Mary with smoky spice and a soulful kick — just like the Empress of the Blues herself. Garnished with a jazzy skewer of pickled flair.  Perfect for a Brunch that sings with flavor.

GRAMMY Award-winning pianist and composer Sullivan Fortner is one of today’s most captivating voices in jazz. A New Orleans native with a gift for blending tradition and modern brilliance, Fortner has performed at legendary venues like the Village Vanguard and Jazz at Lincoln Center, and toured internationally with stars including Cecile McLorin Salvant, Wynton Marsalis, and Dee Dee Bridgewater.

Celebrated for his artistry that is at once soulful, playful, and deeply moving, Fortner invites audiences into an intimate musical conversation — whether performing solo, leading his trio, or collaborating with jazz icons. His performances have been praised by The New York Times for their creativity and elegance, while DownBeat hails his “ease of expression” and mastery of the piano.

With every note, Fortner creates moments that feel personal, timeless, and unforgettable — the kind of experience that makes a night at the Tucson Jazz Festival so special.
