Pascal Bokar Thiam and the Afro Blue Grazz Band
A Special Evening of History, Music and fine BBQ w/ Pascal Bokar Thiam
The program consists of a multimedia presentation involving documentary films, recorded conversational pieces tracing the music and culture of West Africa and how it became the foundation for jazz and blues in this country, providing a deeper appreciation of jazz and blues, and the essential part they play in the American experience.
Includes a musical performance, as part of the lecture, by Pascal Bokar and the Afro Blue Grazz Band. He and his eleven piece ensemble give musical examples illustrating the African foundation of ‘America’s Classical Music,’ as Wynton Marsalis has called it. Not to be missed by any true jazz fan.
Ticket price directly pays for this event production, hosting the band and promotional costs. A portion of the proceeds will be earmarked for a contribution to the Tucson Jazz Institute.
